Almost every school I speak to is trying to write a policy. Most of the drafts I read are missing the same few paragraphs. This tells you which ones.
Nothing technical. If you do not have a policy at all, answer No to everything; the result is still useful.
01. Your school has a written AI policy, and the staff has actually read it.
02. The policy says something different about teacher use than about student use.
03. One named person decides whether a new AI tool may be used with students.
04. The policy says what happens when someone breaks it.
05. Parents have been told, in plain words, which AI tools their children use.
06. The policy has a date on it and a date when it gets reviewed.
